Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP) is a form of psychotherapy that involves an interactive partnership between clients and horses.  EFP is often used in conjunction with other therapies and is also referred to as Horse Therapy, Equine-Assisted Therapy, and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy.

EFP utilizes traditional therapy techniques combined with ground-based equine activities such as observing, handling, grooming, and structured exercises that are focused on the client’s specific needs and goals.  EFP does not include riding.

EFP is facilitated by a Licensed Mental Health Professional who has traditional training in the mental health field and is also an appropriately credentialed equine professional.
